EMS Education
As a private university dedicated to the public good, DU is proud to be educating the next generation of EMS professionals. DU has been recognized as an EMS education program by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and is authorized to assess, evaluate and credential EMS providers. We provide a diverse offering of continuing education courses and specialized certifications. Behavioral health is our specialty as we redefine what out of hospital care looks like.
Through our innovative and novel partnership with Denver Health EMS Education, we offer initial Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) education courses here at DU. Our 10-week course follows the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards and is designed to teach students the basic medical skills needed to respond in an emergency situation. This course provides the EMT student the knowledge and skills required to provide appropriate emergency care and transportation of patients.
Successful completion of this course qualifies and prepares the student to sit for the national certification examination offered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Our EMT classes are open to the entire community, including non-DU students. DU students who complete this course may utilize its credits as part of their degree program
